Hip Hop

Dance is the place I go to be free & express myself. To me it's about feeling and having a good time. Teaching dance is such an honour and break from living in the world of entertainment. It allows me to be a kid again and see the world through their eyes and it makes my soul shine to have that privilege every week.

Sid Mather

Hip Hop

"Dance, to me, is a physical expression of an aural sensation. Our bodies are the conduit to bring the music we hear into a physical form. As a performer, my goal is to help people see what I hear. As a teacher, I strive to inspire my students to do the same. I believe we all have our own unique sense of self-expression in dance that should be nurtured. Whatever genre the movement may be, a dancer converses with their body. I see dance as a language. My dialect is hip hop. I teach words, phrases and pronunciation. My aim is to make my students as fluent in the language as possible so that they are then free to speak their own minds and tell their own stories."

Joseph Samya

Director of Latin & Ballroom

Dancing can take you to another realm of being, through movement and immersion within the music and your partner. It can also help you to release different aspects of your personality, of which one might ordinary hide, giving all your personalities a medium to be expressed. I love all the styles that I have gotten to know intimately because the different rhythms and movement evolved in each dance are conducive to expressive character traits. Ultimately dancing can lead to liberating oneself in a world full of constraints. And through teaching around the world you learn that dancing is also an ubiquitous language that allows you to communicate with people from all countries that share this ability of understanding and this is what I love to share.

Urban

I dance because it affords me a unique artistic freedom. Through dance I feel connected to my inner self and when I move, perform and share I feel that I am expressing that very intimate and personal self with the world. It makes me feel alive...I think the beauty of teaching is passing on the knowledge that you've accumulated through your experiences and seeing it develop and mould your students into more confident, self-aware and expressive individuals. There is nothing more beautiful to me than seeing a student fearlessly express themselves because I feel like it's one of the rare moments that you really get to SEE that person the way they SEE themselves. And that honesty is what makes dance such a special art form to me, and one that I think is very important for people in general...
